This page provides answers to the most common questions about the administration interface of Controller CMS. Each topic explains a specific operation and includes the interface icons used in the system.
1 Menu tree (“Structure”): how to manage the site navigation?
(Functionality depends on the solution)
This is one of the main admin pages. You can change the main menu structure and create, edit, or delete menu items. To switch language (e.g., English), click the “LT” button on the top right.
Left-click any item to open a context menu with these commands:
Delete: removes a menu item.
Disable: hides the menu item from visitors (hidden items can be re-enabled later).
Up: moves the item up in the list.
Down: moves the item down in the list.
Some items have additional commands:
Create submenu item: create a sub-item (new menu item).
Edit: switch to editing mode.
Create article: quick access to the new article form.
2 Create a new top-level menu item
(Functionality depends on the solution)
Open Structure and, in the Create menu item panel (“Sukūrimo meniu”), click the module type you want to add to the tree.
You will be redirected to the module setup/edit screen. Enter at least Menu title and any other required content, then click Save.
The new item appears at level 1 (main site menu level) at the bottom of the tree. Drag and drop it to the desired position by holding the left mouse button and moving the item.
Alternative
Drag a desired module type from Create menu item (“Sukūrimo meniu”) directly to the desired place in the menu tree. You will be prompted to add a name to that item—follow the on-screen instructions.
3 Text editor
(Functionality depends on the solution)
Menu items that require formatted text use a built-in text editor. Each button in the editor has a tooltip; editing works similarly to Word or OpenOffice.
Important: If you copy text from Microsoft Word or websites, use Paste from Word
(in some cases the dialog may open automatically). This removes hidden formatting that could distort the page layout.
4 Edit information in a menu item
In the menu tree, click the item and choose Edit . The editor will open the content assigned to that menu item.
Important: For content pasted from Word or websites, use Paste from Word
to clean up formatting.
5 Change the order of menu items
In the menu tree, open the item’s context menu and choose Up or Down
. This lets you reorder items within the same menu level.
Alternatively, you can move the item to any branch of the tree using drag & drop (click and hold the handle area with the arrow icon, then drag and drop).
6 Edit photos in the text
1) Add a new photo
Place the cursor where the photo should appear. Click Insert/edit image , then Browse server. Use Upload, select the file, then Select. The uploaded photo will appear in the list — click it to insert, adjust alignment and size, and then click OK.
2) Edit an existing uploaded photo
Click the photo to select it, choose Insert/edit image and update its parameters (alignment, ALT, border, etc.).
7 Upload a file for a download link
(Functionality depends on the solution)
- Select or type the word/phrase that will become the link.
- Click the Link
button.
- Click Browse server, upload if needed, select the file, and press Select, then OK. The file link will appear in your text editor.
8 Create a link in the text
- Place the cursor or select the word/phrase to link.
- Click the Link
button.
- Enter or paste the URL in the URL field.
- To open in a new window, set the target to New Window (_blank); otherwise leave as is.
- Click OK to insert the link into the text.
9 Create a table in the text
Place the cursor where the table should appear and click Insert/Edit table
.
In the dialog, set Rows and Columns, border size (0 = no borders), and other options. Click OK. The table will appear at the cursor position.
10 Insert a row or column in an existing table
- Place the cursor in the target cell.
- Right-click to open the table context menu and choose Row or Column.
- Select Insert (Row/Column) after or Insert (Row/Column) before — the new cell will appear accordingly.
11 Create a new article in “Lists and article groups”
Create the menu item for Lists and article groups, then add articles (name and text). You can later add articles straight from the list without returning to Structure.
Important: If pasting from Word or websites, use Paste from Word
to remove unwanted styles.
12 Add videos into the content
Most video platforms (YouTube, Vimeo, etc.) provide an Embed code. Use their size options to fit your layout.
Typical content width is ~900–1200 px. For two videos side by side, use ~450–600 px each. Paste the embed code into the editor’s Insert/Edit Embed
view to display it correctly on the page.
