Slides
Slides
This is a system module for inserting changing slides into the site's structure tree or content, usually through the layers module.
Basic module functionality
Insertion, management in the structure tree, etc.
Inserted by administrators into the site tree through the creation menu in the site structure item or by selecting “Create sub-item” in the contextual structure tree management menu (see).
Can be inserted into any branch of the site tree.
The number of insertions is not limited.
Each insertion has its own settings and content independent of other insertions.
Module management and other functionality
In the settings of the inserted slides module (accessible from the context menu), you can:
Enter the menu item name.
Select the parent item, i.e., the branch where the current module is located.
Enter an alternative name for creating addresses. If entered, it will be used instead of the one generated from the menu item name.
Enter a CMS name/comment. It will be visible as a small blue marker on the item in the menu tree branches.
Set the width of the slides module. The “100%” setting is standard. This means that the slides will take up 100% of the width of their container. This is more of a technical setting, intended for editing with knowledge of the module's usage circumstances and technical nuances.
Set the height of the slides module. The “50vh” setting is standard. This means that the slides on the site will “try” to occupy 50% of the screen height (vh=viewportheight), if the design allows. By entering the value “square” (without quotes) and leaving the width at “100%” - the slides will be square.
This is more of a technical setting, intended for editing with knowledge of the module's usage circumstances and technical nuances.
Set the height of the text field of the slides module's slides. The setting 0 is standard and means automatically adjusting height. A setting of 60% would mean that the text field will be 60% of the current slide's height. This is more of a technical setting, intended for editing with knowledge of the module's usage circumstances and technical nuances.
Choose whether the slides start changing automatically when the page loads.
Ability to enter additional SEO fields if this module is used as a separate menu item.
Additional browser window title.
Short description.
Keywords.
In the list of slides of the inserted slides module, you can:
See a list of created slides, where the top entry is the first slide in the list, this slide is visible on the site as the first slide. The list entry shows:
Slide image thumbnail if the slide has an assigned image (see below - slide editing).
A technical title, if one is provided.
Publication (visibility) management - the ability to hide or show a specific slide publicly.
Slide order management - the ability to “move” a slide to another position.
Link (icon) leading to the editing of a specific slide (see below).
Link (icon) that deletes a specific slide.
Create a new slide (see below).
Open the “Settings” described above.
Navigate through additional navigation links - “Structure”, “Step back” and the site path (breadcrumb).
In the inserted slides module's slide editing and, analogously, during the creation of a new slide, you can:
Provide a technical title visible only to administrators in the slide lists.
Assign a specific delay time in seconds to the edited slide. The default value is 5 (seconds). This means that the slide will be visible on the site for 5 seconds before the animation that replaces the current slide with another one begins.
Upload a slide photo (PNG or JPG) from the administrator's computer.
If a photo is already uploaded, its thumbnail is visible and the photo can be deleted.
Assign text or another element that is allowed to be created using RTE (see). If no text is entered, only the uploaded slide image will be visible to site visitors.
Module operation on the frontend side (what website visitors see)
The slides module is visible to visitors (and takes up that much space) and is placed where the site administrators have assigned or inserted it.
If so specified in the module settings, the slides change automatically, over the specified time.
The slides module has the following visible to visitors:
dot navigation (depending on the design, it can be bubbles, squares, lines, etc.).
Buttons “Next slide” and “Previous slide”.
Additional information and recommendations
In the mobile version, unless individually programmed otherwise, the slide photo will be cropped automatically, trying to fully cover the screen area allocated for the slide.
In the mobile version, unless individually programmed otherwise, the words of the text will wrap to the next line as much as they fit into the screen width, so it is very important to write the shortest possible words and concise texts.
If there is only 1 active slide in the list - the animation will not work on the site, the slide will be displayed all the time.
It is not recommended to have more than 3 active slides. There is a high probability that visitors will not even notice the 3rd slide - they will not wait that long.
The first and second slides are the main ones and carry the main messages. There is a high probability that visitors will see them.
Having many active slides makes it difficult to load the page where the slides module is located because all the high-quality slide images are being loaded.
Advanced functionality (installed individually)
The slides module is supplemented with the following functionality:
While retaining the ability to upload only one photo, the ability to upload up to 7 (total) photos is created, which, if uploaded, are displayed for specific screens. The logic of screen and slide sizes is taken from the existing (2022 04 07) website. If there is a need, if standards change, etc., when creating this functionality, corrections are made to this logic, which may mean that the image formats will change, etc.
The ability to click the entire slide is added, i.e., a link-address entry field is added.
The ability to assign a link-address to video files is added: mp4 and webM. The files should first be placed on the website or another server and either copy the link to the file and insert the full address to the file or use the file management call button and perform these actions on the current server.
In the general slide settings, the option to choose to display the slides in random order instead of in the order they are arranged in the list appears.
